What do you like about being Latina?

Latina women have overcome many adversities and have faced a number of obstacles, but we've still managed to maintain a positive and vibrant outlook on life full of gratitude and resilience. That's what I love the most about being Latina.

What’s something about you that people would be surprised to know?
.I think what most people would be surprised to learn about me is that I truly enjoy giving back to my community, I’m also passionate about a number of causes. I religiously volunteer every Thanksgiving with God’s Love We Deliver and The Birthday Party Project. I also am the founder of my own non-profit organization called the Everyday Counts Foundation. My family and I began the organization in honor of my mother who passed away from duodenal cancer in 2013. You can read more about our organization here.Lastly, after catching up with an old friend who thought I was “bougie” simply based off my pictures I think people would be surprised to know that I can be very down to earth. I’ve worked very hard in my 22 years of life and every single “luxury” item I own I’ve worked hard for myself, or had a great “hook up” haha!

What are your favorite colors and outfits that make up most of your closet?

Black is definitely the signature color of New York, and as a true New Yorker my closet is filled with endless amounts of black colored clothing and accessories However, I also LOVE bright colors and prints I guess it’s the Caribbean girl in me. I love to color block and bold jewel tone colors and fun floral prints are my fave. Especially in the winter I like to mix textures and fabrics!

What trends are big in your city?

I live in the New York so as you could imagine trends are constantly changing, it’s so hard to keep up!! I really get a lot of inspiration from simply riding the subway and seeing who’s wearing what in what borough, I truly see some fabulous outfits on the train. I’m from the Bronx (the best borough in NY, not up for argument) haha! I think street style urban-wear is huge here also mixing luxury brands with more affordable brands.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do you like about that brand?

Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Stella McCartney and Phillip Lim, are some of my favorite luxury designers and I hope to be able to afford them all one day! These brands are all classics in my book and they make staple pieces that can last a lifetime in your closet.

Which actresses or models do you believe have the best style?

I'm torn between Becky G and JLO! These two Latina beauties manage to be stylish, elegant, alluring and sexy. I also have a weak spot for Cardi B, I appreciate her risks on the red carpet and she manages to wear something we wouldn't expect. Keep us guessing!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years and what are your goals?

In five years I see myself having graduated with my Bachelor's degree and working in the fashion industry. Ideally as an Account Executive or for a magazine publication, I'd love for my blog to reach as many people as possible. I want to continue advocating for as many causes as possible and to overall wake up everyday as a happy individual loving what I do!

What do you like about being Latina?

There’s something about being Latina that puts a little pep in my step. Whether it be the salsa music that makes my feet move on their own, or the long days before a fiesta preparing food for 100 family guests with mami, or just knowing that my culture is so full of traditions and beautiful hard-working people. These are the reasons why it always prides me to say I am Latina.

What’s something about you that people would be surprised to know?
As a little girl I developed a love for singing and dancing and always imagined myself as the next Selena! I ended up pursuing music in college where I studied Vocal Performance with a focus in Opera. Currently I sing locally in bands or with my best friend Noe on the guitar.

What are your favorite colors and outfits that make up most of your closet?

I embrace my tan skin by wearing bright colors that make it glow, so orange and yellow are a must in my closet! I also keep enough classic black and white pieces to pair with my fun pieces! Crop and off the shoulder tops are also a must. Crop tops because of my short torso and off the shoulder is just the right amount of flirty.

What trends are big in your city?

Austin is the music capital of the world so it’s music festival season all year long! We are known for our hippie vibes and for our “Keep Austin Weird” motto so that should paint a picture for you :). Because we are such a diverse city, you will find a little bit of everything here.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do you like about that brand?

Currently I’m obsessed with Zara. I just love their timeless pieces and their unique style. I know I can shop for everything, from clothes for work to what to wear for a girls night out! I love the daring European style.

Which actresses or models do you believe have the best style?

Jennifer Lopez is my spirit animal. I hope I age as gracefully as she has, I mean she's killing it with her style, music, and body #goals! Alejandra Espinoza is my other favorite, not just because of her great style but because she's come so far after winning the first season of Nuestra Belleza Latina on Univision and has become an inspiration for all young Latina women.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years and what are your goals?

In 5 years I want to reach my financial goals to be able to travel more frequently and really submerge myself into different cultures. I find it fascinating to see how other cultures live. I also want to learn a third language, buy a home, maybe get back into the music industry, and have my foot well in the fashion styling world. Through my blog I want to be able to empower other Latina's to take risks and to follow their dreams!

What do you like about being Latina?

Being a Latina not only means being someone that was born in a Latin American country. It means so much more. To me, being a Latina means that no matter where you were born you have been raised to be strong and have learned that hard work pays off, if only you put your mind to it. It means that your color skin doesn't define you and that you will never be alone because you will always have your family behind you. Being a Latina means that you will develop the best palate in the world because you trained your mouth to experience the best food and not only in one language. Nevertheless being a Latina means rhythm as with any music it will have you shaking to your toes. Being a Latina means being strong, confident, kind and beautiful.

What’s something about you that people would be surprised to know?
One thing that most people don't know is that I used to (still do once in a while) belly dance. I grew up being a dancer, from jazz to ballet to contemporary to folklore. But the one dance that stayed with me forever was belly dancing. There is something about the music and the culture that attracts me so much, and that's not the only reason I like it, it's also a great way to get fit and get your workout done in a fun way.

What are your favorite colors and outfits that make up most of your closet?

I love light colors, from whites to nudes but also the classic black. I am also not afraid to use colors depending on the occasion. I would classify my style as sophisticated-romantic or classic-chic. I love to try new trends, and I love to accessorize with statement pieces if the garment needs it. When shopping I always try to look for stylish pieces that are striking and smart and will favor my figure.

What trends are big in your city?

In Dallas, you can get the best of both worlds. And if you are country at heart, this is the city for you, from boots to cowboy hats you find the best selection here in the heart of Texas. But don't let me just emphasize western fashion only. In Dallas, you can be a boss babe as it is a mecca of corporate headquarters with companies such as J.C. Penney and Neiman Marcus, but also it's the host to many more shopping venues where you can find brands such as Prada, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Rolex, etc. Lastly, Dallas is a melting pot, where cultures have so much influence in our everyday trends, so finding your style, is just a matter of finding who you are and what you like, as the city will provide it for you.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do you like about that brand?

I am a Chanel girl. From the beginnings of the brand with Coco Chanel til now, being in the hands of Karl Lagerfeld the brand has revolutionized as the years pass but has kept the iconic and classic style that everybody loves. To me, Chanel means sophistication and class, and the craftsmanship is seriously one of the most detailed in the fashion industry. Not only that but every single piece is unique, and I love the fact that can be passed on through generations, just like the brand itself. Lastly, I am very intrigued by the way Karl Lagerfeld has introduced Chanel to the modern day "IT" girl. Who would have thought that this iconic brand would end up as a must-have piece for street style fashion?

Which actresses or models do you believe have the best style?

For this question, I can't just choose a model, or a designer or an actress that have the best style. I idolize and love so many amazing women that have shaped the way I see fashion. From iconic legends such as Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, and Marilyn Monroe. To modern showstoppers such like Kate Middleton (Duchess of Cambridge), the Hadid sisters (Gigi and Bella), Zendaya, Rihanna, Angelina Jolie, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, Salma Hayek, Gal Gadot, and Olivia Palermo. Every single one of these women has such an unusual and unique fashion sense that have put them on the map as the most fashionable icons in the world.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years and what are your goals?

Currently, I work as a bilingual social media manager for a company in Dallas, TX and I run a beauty, lifestyle and travel blog called thedailysash.com where I share my everyday experiences with young women who have the same likes and struggles as me. I plan on keep moving forward with my passion for social media and search engine optimization. I believe that the power of social media and e-commerce is taking the world by storm and if people learn to use it properly, it can become a giant asset which we need to take advantage of. Hopefully, I can turn my passion into a business in the near future where I can expand my blog into a place where people can come and find a community, especially young Latinas.

What do you like about being Latina?

I am simply in love with our culture. I love how genuine, collaborative, fun, and happy we are. There is so much beauty in every hispanic smile, it's contagious. We are happy with the little things in life, but we are hard-workers and are so grateful for anything extra! I love our food and our family values, and even though some people don't see past the corruption and poverty in our countries, I always see our beauty and I am proud to say I am from Venezuela. Latinas love to dance, and I am no exception. So that's something I definitely love about who I am and where I come from.

What’s something about you that people would be surprised to know?
I am a math nerd, which makes me extremely organized with my finances (a plus for when you want to travel so much). I love anything number-related. Give me a Sudoku or math puzzle, and I am happy girl. I guess this is why I studied engineering.
What are your favorite colors and outfits that make up most of your closet?

Less is more <3 I love wearing white and light pink. This is so weird coming from a world where black is always "in". But I love how stylish and elegant white looks on me (probably on everyone). I feel like I always stand out when I wear white or light colors. I usually use accessories to add color to my simple but elegant white outfits.

What trends are big in your city?

I live in Miami so anything beach related is always in! This makes it a little bit tricky to look 'chic' if you only want to wear a pair of shorts. But that's what's exciting.. how can we make something so simple look fashionable? There is also a lot of Hispanic influence (love!) so I am always looking for the best boutiques and accessories from our home countries.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do you like about that brand?

I love Carolina Herrera, always classy but effortless. I shop a lot at Zara, there are so many outfits you can create for an affordable price.

Which actresses or models do you believe have the best style?

I think Blake Lively has a unique style, but something pretty similar to my taste. She always kills it on the red carpet.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years and what are your goals?

My goal for the next 5 years is to inspire as many women as possible to have confidence, to love themselves, and to live the life that makes them their happiest self. I hope I can help them achieve this through my fitness & health, style, and travel influence. I am also working hard towards having my own brand to support Latina beauty and fashion brands! Stay tuned.

Being a Latina is something I am incredibly proud of. I love our tight knit culture and resilience to overcome anything! We are full of life, love, and always down to party.

What’s something about you that people would be surprised to know?
I’m a skincare ingredient geek. I seriously spend hours researching products and their ingredients, so I can make better decisions about what I put on my skin and put into the environment. I also love helping friends and family build skincare regimens.
What are your favorite colors and outfits that make up most of your closet?

Right now, I am loving a simple, black ensemble. I usually reach for a pair of black jeans, black long sleeve, my black and white ruana (which I think is just a fancy word for poncho) and some open toe booties.

Julie Sariñana has been my style inspiration for years. She is a Mexican blogger with an effortless, neutral wardrobe which perfectly captures my style. Shay Mitchell has quickly turned into one of my favorite style inspirations. Her outfits are always a perfect mix of feminine, sexy, and carefree.

I see myself fully supporting myself through my creative ventures. Thankfully, this is my last semester of school and will be able to dedicate myself to writing and producing more content that I like. Having the opportunity to develop a career with my creativity is truly a dream of mine.
