What do you like about being Latina?
Everything! I enjoy being a part of a culture that embraces strong family values, traditions, and celebrates with delicious foods, vibrant sounds of music and colorful detailing! I enjoy being able to understand more than one language, allowing me to expand my relationships outside of the U.S. Another reason why I love being Latina, is because we are so unique from any other culture. We come in all shapes, sizes, color tones, and have beautiful exotic features. We take pride in hard work, and recognize it through the example most of our parents or grandparents have demonstrated.
What’s something about you that people would be surprised to know?
I think there are several things actually, haha. I hold a Masters degree in Public Health (MPH) focusing on Health Policy and Management from Texas A&M Health Science Center. During my time in graduate school, I made the initiative to raise money to help me complete my internship abroad in Cochabamba, Bolivia for 2 months. Yes, I lived there for 2 months in a very impoverished area where I learned a lot about myself. Such a great experience living in a third world country! Lastly, months shortly after I returned to the states from Bolivia, I took a leap of faith and moved to Dallas with only a savings account and no job. I secured a job 2 months later and the rest is history! Best decision that changed my life. What are your favorite colors and outfits that make up most of your closet?
The color that makes up most of my closet is black, followed by navy blue, then white/beige, and tans/nuetrals. I do have pops of red, fuscia, bright blue, pinks, and some print styles in the mix!
What trends are big in your city?
Currently for Spring are bamboo handbags, lace and off the shoulder tops, jumpsuits or rompers, colorful prints and stripes, pearl detailed slide sandals, and white nail polish!
What is your favorite brand/designer? What do you like about that brand?
I love several! What quickly comes to mind are, Gianni Bini as a designer and Topshop as a brand. I love Gianni Bini because the styles are always so chic, yet feminine. I do find some cuts to be a little edgy, but nonetheless they are made for a feminine silhouette. Topshop, in my opinion, is always on trend and many times fashion forward. I enjoy pushing myself outside my comfort zone with Topshop as I enjoy seeing when a style that I would of never tried before actually work very well.
Which actresses or models do you believe have the best style?
While I think many models and actresses have amazing style, I most associated myself with Zoe Saldana because of her tall and thin stature. A lot of things she wears, I can see myself wearing or at least her body type is almost similar. I also love her fearless personality!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years and what are your goals?
In 5 years at a personal level, my goals are to have done some traveling to certain places on my bucket list before starting a family. As for being a blogger/influencer, I know in 5 years my knowledge and work in this industry will grow. I take my blog work very seriously, which is why I am working hard to continue to work with brands that completely fit my lifestyle and where I can create excitement to share with my network I also currently oversee the DFW Latina Bloggers group, and therefore I hope by then to have created an environment where brands start reaching out to network with some of the girls in the group for collaborative opportunities. I enjoy helping people and seeing anyone become successful brings me great joy, especially in knowing I had a hand in their success.
