What do you like about being Latina?

The character, passion, determination, sensuality and strength that characterizes the Latin woman makes me proud to be one.

What does fashion mean to you and how would you define your style?

Fashion is a form of expression and visual characterization which allows us to identify or differ from others, for me, each style can vary depending on the culture, age or social position and is like the cover of a magazine, our interior being the content of it, and its cover being our appearance or as we decided to introduce ourselves to society. My style can be varied, due to the extensive cultural exposure I have had, I do not consider having a single style and on the contrary, I like to experiment with several styles depending on my mood or where I am mentally in that day / moment.

 Who is your fashion icon?

 I would say that I love Victoria Beckham's style because of its elegance and class. Impeccable woman and her style is very suitable for every occasion. But sometimes I can also identify with the popular style of the Kardashians that is so criticized but that everyone wants to imitate. I admire it because it is a fearless style, direct and showing skin without paying attention to any criticism. It is a style that, as false as it may seem, to me, is very real.

 How does your culture influence your personal style?

Because my cultures are like opposite poles I choose my style depending on where I am:
Fashion in Japan is very variable and has total freedom, despite that there are outfits for occasions and everyone respects that. In simple things, for example, if I go to a wedding, I will not wear a white dress or an extravagant neckline because I am aware that it is the day of the bride and nobody should take attention from her. Or for example, if I'm going on a date, I'm going to apply the “neckline up or down” law, which means that on a date it's only used or a low-cut blouse and something that covers the bottom, or if I'm going to wear a miniskirt, I'm going to cover my chest. Because if I show you both, I am insinuating myself a lot, and if I don't show anything, it is lack of interest to look attractive.

Victoria Beckham, Jessica Alba, Heidi Kalyn, Candice Swanepoel

Cartagena is not just an emblematic cultural, architectural and naturally beautiful city, it also has a big variety of food and an extensive international influence.

The best look for a night out in Cartagena is a beautiful waist wrap dress with very comfortable sandals. The heat is very high so try to use fabrics that are very breathable. I am wearing a BCBGMAXZARIA short dress in a very fun and colorful print with a pair of block heel camel sandals.

Tip: when you have curves like me try to be selective with the kind of prints you wear, you don’t have to be boring and plain. For example in my case the vertical lines of the prints really faltered my curves. Avoid horizontal prints or very large and bold prints.

When you go to the “local” or “traditional” restaurant you can find a big variety of fish, planting and coconut rice, although for a more exclusive meal try the Posta Negra, it’s a traditional Cartagenian meat that takes over 5 hours of cooking. The taste of this meat is fantastic, I highly recommend La Mulata Restaurant in old town.

The last night out, we found a place called La Pepita in Bocagrande neighborhood I just fell in love with the architecture and design of the place, the food was yummy and drinks absolutely delicious. We had a rolled hamburger and my favorite drink pineapple and mint juice.
