Who is Way Changin?

Mexican Model and Actress

IG: @Waychangin

Who is Way Changin?

I am a woman from Sonora, from a small but very welcoming city called San Luis Rio Colorado. I currently reside in Mexico City. I am free, creative and I enjoy projecting my sensitivity to the world without prejudice. Under any means, I seek to transform every experience into a gift. At this moment I am creating my path as an artist; Definitely not an easy path but it's fulfilling and I think that's what life is about. At age 16 I participated in beauty contests that led me to explore the artistic world and aroused in me a curiosity to be part of it. However, without the support of my family I felt very insecure to continue on that path and decided to study medicine, but over time I realized that this was no my dream; It did not give me the happiness I was looking for. In that attempt to please others I stopped listening to what I really wanted and dreamed. I had abandoned all those plans and projects I had had since I was a child. After a long time of pleasing others I decided that it was enough, and that I had to find my own way. I came to Mexico City trying to fulfill that dream I had, I started working and studying, but always listening to what I really needed, and that opened many doors for me. I had the pleasure to work with great actors in Mexico and in New York city; Experience that brought professional growth to my life. But most important: I understood that when you embrace your passion, all things take their place.

What has been the most exciting role you have played?

All the roles that I have interpreted have been very exciting that I would not know which one to choose. All have been huge challenges!

What is something you know today, and wish you had known when you started your career?

When I started my career I had a feeling of frustration and pressure. I thought I had wasted time studying other things. Now I understand that everything is perfect like that. Having studied that was an experience I needed in my way and my life.

Of all the exciting things about being an actress, what do you like the most?

What I like most is how much I learn from each experience, every character is a challenge. By embracing the character as she is; with her virtues and defects I also embrace those qualities of mine and then something changes. That's what I like the most, the gift they leave in me.

Do you remember something funny or embarrassing that happened to you while you were filming a scene?

A few months ago I was playing a role of a girl with serious emotional problems, who visually did not look very good. I was alone in the street, waiting for the taxi to arrive to record my scene. A lady with a bike passes by, she looks at me with a worried face and asks me if I'm okay or if I need some help at the same time that she examined my whole face and body. I was very surprised and at the same time I was very happy because I said to myself "wow I'm doing a great job" first I looked at her with the same worried face and then I smiled and told her that everything was fine. All the production team was laughing!

Any advice you want to share with Latina women who want to be professional actresses or models? Everything is possible! It is not fast and the process can be discouraging but when we learn to listen to ourselves, any dream becomes possible and that becomes motivation. As Latinas we have great passion and enormous strength, which becomes a tool to achieve our goals.

How Much Should You Spend on Skincare

How Much Should You Spend on Skincare?

Each month, the skincare world introduces the next must-have and advanced product or skincare line to address fine lines, dark spots or acne.

But the questions start to arise: do I need to spend $45 on a cleanser when the one I have works well? And do I need to buy and entire skincare line and its products to get the best in skincare? The answers vary per person, especially when it comes to what products someone has already tried and their concern and age category.

The good news is that great skincare does not have to break the bank and can happen at home with just a few investment pieces. According to aesthetician Kerry Benjamin, owner of Spa Benjamin in Mar Vista, CA, the three pieces of advice she recommends to her clients for at-home skincare maintenance are:
1.Invest in skincare devices, such as cleansing brushes or LED devices for fine lines or acne

2.Wash smarter with the right cleanser

3.Focus on hydration for all skin types (including oily), but don't invest to much money on a moisturizer. Instead, focus on serums, which have high concentrations of active ingredients.

Skincare Devices

Now more than ever, skincare devices are easily accessible outside of spas and dermatologist offices and just as easy to use. The bonus: they help prolong visits to the spa and dermatologist. The Clarisonic brushes are recommended by U.S. dermatologists and aestheticians since they are gentle for all skin types, clean 6 times better than using hands alone and, promote micro-circulation, which helps with cell turn-over. Bonus: they help make products, such as serums and spot treatments, work better.

Cleansers

While a cleanser with high-end and active ingredients may sound ideal, keep in mind that cleansers only sit on the skin for 1-2 minutes before being washed down the drain. However, make sure to find one that works with your skin type. Neutrogena’s Fresh Foaming Cleanser is soap-free, alcohol-free, oil-free, non-comedogenic and safe enough to remove.

Moisturizer

Remember that every skin type needs moisture. However, also remember that their #1 job is to hydrate only: moisturizers have larger molecules and do not penetrate the epidermis. Instead, focus on investing in a serum, since the molecules are smaller, penetrate the epidermis and go to the layers of skin that need treatment and repair. Philosophy’s No Reason to Hide is a multi-tasking serum that uses ingredients including vitamins B and C to addresses multiple concerns, including uneven texture, fine lines and discolorations.

Tips and Tricks:

• Where to spend: facial serums and eye creams.

• Where to save: cleansers, masks, exfoliators, toners, moisturizers and SPF. Along with cleansers, masks and exfoliators only sit on the skin for a short period of time. Look for any alcohol-free toner and choose a moisturizer with an SPF of 30 or higher.

How to Master the Nude Lip Look

How to Master the Nude Lip Look

The nude lip look dates back to the 1960’s when pasty-white lips were paired with over-the-top jet black eyeliner and mascara. Since then, the look of nude lips has gone to extremes: from matching the lip color to the skintone, to the deep, chocolate brown shades from the 1990s, with some old-school makeup tips along the way (“mix concealer with lip gloss!”)

How to find a shade for each skintone:

Very Fair (with a milky undertone) – soft baby pink
Fair – rosy-beige
Light (olive undertone) – pink or beige
Olive (warm, gold undertone) – soft peach, creamy pink-beige or caramel with a glossy finish
Olive (cool, pink undertone) – sheer pink
Tan – glossy, shimmery nude
Medium – caramel, warm beige, coral or a pink that’s lighter than the skin
Caramel – beige-caramel
Mocha – rosy-pink mauve or caramel-rose
Dark – rosy-brown with faint gold flecks or a shade slightly lighter than skintone
Very Dark – toffee, cocoa or chocolate brown with faint gold flecks

Tips and Tricks

-Remember that the goal is to separate the lips from the skin and not match the lip color to the skintone exactly.

-Choose shades that are not too shiny or too matte.

-Prep lips by exfoliating with a gentle lip scrub or clean, damp washcloth. Apply lip moisturizer to avoid the look of parched or ashy lips.

-Put your index finger in your mouth and gently close your lips around it then pull it out, in order to take off the lipstick from inside of your lips. It won't wind up o your teeth

-Take the extra time to apply it with a brush in the morning or before a night on the town to help lipstick stay longer

-Don't forget to start with a clean up your lips gently. You can do by lightly rubbing your lips with a damp washcloth.

How To Contour

How to Contour

One of the popular trends in the cosmetic world is contouring, defined as emphasizing shadows and light on the face, with some beauty sources calling it the “New Photoshop.” Unlike the dramatic contoured looks of the 1980’s, where the approach was to create sharp angles or hide imperfections, the modern approach to contouring is about bringing dimension and symmetry to all face shapes. According to celebrity makeup artist Beau Nelson, the goal is to create a subtle definition and not a noticeable look.
According to the ProTeam Color Consultants at Sephora.com. The first step of contouring is to recognize face shape, which are categorized in four main shapes:
Round
Square
Oval
Heart-shaped
Other shapes include oblong, diamond and triangle:

Before contouring, start by prepping skin with moisturizer and foundation. Next, the four basic steps include:

Highlighter- used to lengthen areas of the face and bring light to areas such as the center of eyebrows, under the eyes and lips and the center of the nose. Shimmer shades can be used.

Contour- choose shades that are not too orange or brown and avoid shimmer; matte colors work best and look the most natural. Apply to areas such as the temples, jawline, and most importantly, the cheekbones. For some face shapes, contour colors can be applied to the neck.

Blend- focus on keeping the points of light by blending the dark shades into the light shades. For best results, use a damp, egg-shaped sponge, such as the Beauty Blender , which provides precision, streak-free blending.

Finish- set the look with loose or pressed powder. Add warmth with a blush or bronzer.

Tips and Tricks:

-Contour products are available in powders, creams and pencils. Choose powders for a matte finish or creams and pencils for a more dewy finish.

-According to Nelson, pay attention to brush shape. Use at least two: one for highlighting and one for contouring. A dual-ended brush with tapered, synthetic bristles to create a precise finish. A fan brushed can also be used to feather products and create an airbrushed look.

How to Lighten Dark Lips

How to Lighten Dark Lips

Rosy pink and red lips are the image of youth and beauty and are also an indicator of one’s health. The unique feature of lips is the vermillion border, the distinct line of separation of pink or red from the skin on the face, and blood vessels give lips their reddish-pinkish color. But unfortunately, just like the skin on the face, lips can become dry, discolored and dark due to factors including:

• Excessive sun and UV exposure
• Hormones
• Genetics and aging
• Cigarette smoking
• Licking the lips

The skin on the lips consists of 3-4 cellular layers and is approximately 0.10 inches thick, as opposed to skin on the face. Also, lips don’t have sweat glands and, like skin on the face, can thin with age. Luckily, there are several ways to treat and minimize discoloration with these suggestions:

• Use a daily lip balm containing SPF15 or 20, and look for ingredients such as shea butter to hydrate and heal rather than coat the lips. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF15 hydrates, repairs and plumps with ingredients including mango and shea-butter, black current seed and grape-seed oils and are offered in a variety of natural-looking lip tints, including Petal and Rose.

• For an intense night-time lip treatment, Nuxe Reve de Miel Ultra Nourishing Lip Balm contains honey, sunflower and almond oils, shea-butter and grapefruit essence to heal and repair and can be applied in a thick layer overnight for the most dry lips.

• Make a homemade lip lightening mask that is all natural, biodegradable and food grade. Make a paste using ½ tbsp of honey with ½ tbsp of white sugar along with 4-5 drops of lemon juice. Apply to clean, dry lips, let sit for 15-20 minutes, then gently massage for 1-2 minutes to remove excess dead skin cells and promote microcirculation. Use 1-2 times per week for best results.

• Take a daily collagen supplement, since collagen is a major component of lip. Collagen production begins to slow down in our mid-20’s and ceases in the early 40’s. NeoCell SuperCollagen Type 1 and 3 supplements not only support and maintain the structure of skin, hair and nails but contain vitamin C to help maintain healthy blood vessels.

Costa Rica, the Greenest Country in the World

Costa Rica, the Greenest Country in the World

Costa Rica is the greenest country in the world. So if you are planning a trip and feeling “green”, Costa Rica is your destination. This country pioneered ecotourism and during the last 3 decades has focused in protecting and preserving its biodiversity. Half of this Central American country is considered a protected area. Seventeen national parks, seven biological reserves and several wildlife refuges are waiting for you. For its dimension, you can have breakfast in the Caribbean and enjoy dinner in the Pacific.

Manuel Antonio National Park

It is a small biological island located in the Pacific coast, South of Quepos, 82 Miles from San Jose. It has a vast flora and fauna: 352 species of birds, 109 species of mammals, a diverse marine fauna and 346 species of flora. This National Park is one of the most beautiful in the country, receiving the biggest number of national and international visitors. You may be asking: How do I get there? By plane: Sansa and Nature Air, by bus: departing from the Coca Cola terminal three times a day or renting a car: driving 3 hours and a half approximately.

Arenal Volcano

It is Costa Rica’s most active volcano. Located in Parque Nacional Volcán Arenal, it is approximately 7.000 years old. Legend goes Maleku Indians said the God of Fire lived inside. Los Ahogados, Costa Rica Volcano, Río Frío Volcano, Arenal Mountain, Pan de Azúcar Mountain, Los Canastes Volcano or Pelón Volcano, are among the different names it has been called throughout the years. Currently, it is named Arenal Volcano because lava deposited at the base of the cone has a sandy appearance.

Tortuguero National Park

It is located in the Caribbean coast of the country’s Northeast region. It was declared a national park in 1970 because green turtles, an extinct species, lay their eggs in this area from March to the middle of October. The best way towatchthem is far from the edge, on boat or canoe, not to bother the turtles. Tortuguero is also a reserve for 60 species of mammals, 300 species of birds and 170 species of reptiles and amphibians.
