What do you love about being Latina?

Being a Latina means being proud of my culture and I embrace everything that it has to offer. Latina is not only an ethnicity but a way of life.

What’s something about you that people would be surprised to know? 

This year I was fortunate enough to take some time off and travel to Panama to deliver medical supplies to the less fortunate. It was an unforgettable experience knowing that because of my mission team, we were able to put a smile on the people's faces. Next year my team and I will be traveling to Peru to put more smiles on faces.

What trends are big in your city?

Since I live in a big city, Chicago has a lot to offer like rooftop restaurants and lounges with an amazing view of our beautiful skyline. One of the biggest fashion trends I tend to see is high-waisted jeans. Definitely a staple in your wardrobe.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do you like about that brand?

My favorite brand has to be Chanel. They’re always having the latest trends by mixing old with the new. That brand has everything from makeup which I love, to bags, shoes, and clothes. One of my favorite quotes from Chanel is “ Fashion is always in the time that we live” by Gabrielle Chanel.

What are your favorite colors and outfits that make up most of your closet? 

My favorite colors to wear are definitely a strong red and a fierce black. They make me feel strong, powerful like I could conquer the world.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years and what are your goals?

I see myself working as a clinical pharmacist in an Oncology Center and working on my own clothing line.

Which actresses or models do you believe have the best style?

I respectively admire Salma Hayek, but not because of her on-screen performances but because of her off-screen work. She is committed to helping women that have been affected by domestic violence and discrimination against immigrants. She also has a great sense of fashion.

That I am a published author. I wrote a motivational book which tries to show how we can turn negatives into positives.

I don’t even do it consciously but half of my wardrobe is white. Besides white, I love earthy tones. In terms of outfits, because I live on a tropical island, my closet is made up mostly of skirts and short dresses, but that will have to change now that I am moving to NYC.

Because of the amazing 80 degree weather all year long, crop tops, jean shorts and maxi dresses are always in trend in San Juan.

I have a degree in Advertising and Public Relations and I’m also a lawyer. However, in 2015 I was Miss Puerto Rico, a job that I enjoyed throughly. My goal in 5 years is to put all my academic credentials and my experience as a queen in becoming an ambassador for a fashion/beauty brand.

What do you like about being Latina?

First, I love that being Latina makes me different in any setting. By standing out, it gives me the opportunity to share my experiences and educate others about our culture. Second, I love how prideful and rich our culture is. From traditions to the food, to the music, and the people, Latinos take pride in everything we have and everything we are. Last, I love how go-getter we are. We are willing to break barriers and push boundaries all to have a better life.

What are your favorite colors and outfits that make up most of your closet?

I incorporate a little bit from all sorts of styles but mostly my closet consists of neutral colors and basic pieces that I can reuse and style in any season and in different settings. Although, I do still have those pops of textures and colors that I can incorporate in a look depending on what I’m going for and on the season.

What trends are big in your city?

Since it’s still winter in Minnesota, faux fur, white boots, track pants, and long jackets are still very much in. And of course, flannel too. I mean this is the Mid-West LOL.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do you like about that brand?

For the High-End I love Gucci and Versace. They have this sort of regal streetwear vibe that’s perfect for special occasions but also for everyday wear. Their accessories the last couple of seasons have also been so unique and honestly my favorites. For more affordable, I love ZARA for trendy, quality pieces and Target for everyday or casual wear. 

Which actresses or models do you believe have the best style?

So many good ones but I love Kim Kardashian, Emma Watson, Emma Roberts, Jennifer Lopez, and Tammy Hembrow.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years and what are your goals?

In five years, I hope to inspire women by showing them that it is possible to have it all if they are willing to work hard. I hope to have a thriving career, a house, children of my own, a loving marriage, and time to continue to pursue my passions in beauty fashion.

What’s something about you that people would be surprised to know?

Though I love fashion and beauty, I also love Harry Potter. I’m a huge Harry Potter Nerd. I own all the movies, all the books, a wand, a scarf, and a sweater.

Too many things to count but the main thing is that we are built as fearless women. We are not afraid to speak up and have drive to be leaders.

What’s something about you that people would be surprised to know?

That I am the only Latina at my job!

What are your favorite colors that make up most of your closet?

Currently into a lot of nudes, grays, creams and dusty pink.


What trends are big in your city?

Minneapolis is a very Scandinavian city and you can definitely see the influence in the design around the city, the architecture and of course the clothing. And I am totally into it because it is so minimalistic and clean.

I just started the Minneapolis Blogger Union and it has been such a great thing in the Twin Cities, so I want to keep nourishing it. I’m the kind of woman that wants it all, so I see myself with a baby, running my businesses (blog and blogger union) and excelling at my full time job at Target. .

I love Target, not only because I work there but I truly love what the brands stands for and the affordable price point.

What do you like about being Latino?

I love that Latina’s are known as the epitome of sexy & fierce. While I believe that each woman poses something special of their own, Latinas are immediately connected to overcoming any obstacles & their strength. In a nutshell, being Latina is the luchadora (warrior) cutthroat attitude but we also nurture like no other.
Latinas are the perfect blend of everything & that reflects a lot in our different cultures within Latin America. I am Mexican but even within Mexico we have different takes on our culture, there is so much to be appreciated within the Latino culture.

What’s something about you that people would be surprised to know?

Something about me that people will be very surprised to know about me is that I was a huge tomboy growing up. I grew up with my brother who is 3 years older than me so I would always ruin my clothes playing with the boys & mix my Barbie dolls with his action figures.
What are your favorite colors and outfits that make up most of your closet?

My favorite color to wear is red but if you take a look into my closet you’ll see a lot of Olive & a lot of Black. People think black is easy to work with but I think its elegant & sexy. When in doubt, turn some heads in black.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do you like about that brand?

I don’t think I have a favorite brand. I will seriously wear anything from anyone because I like it & its affordable. Dream designer to wear would have to be Carolina Herrera because she dressed Jackie Kennedy & Michelle Obama.

Which actresses or models do you believe have the best style?

I love the way Zendaya dresses. You can really see her creativity & personality though her style & the woman can make anything look good.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years and what are your goals?

In 5 years I see my self (above all) to be happy. I am a broadcast journalist so I see myself working to the top of my field & interviewing. I also see myself taking over my family business 100% so my mother can retire & maybe finally allowing marriage & kids in my life lol.

What do you like about being Latina?

What I love about being Latina, is that we have sabor. Although, I have mixed cultures because my dad is Lebanese being Latina is what makes us stand out, being Latina makes us I think a little bit more passionate about everything we love. It’s always in me and it’s what gives me an edge.

What are your favorite colors?

My favorite color is yellow, nice and bright, although I don’t really wear it.

What are your favorite brand of clothes?

My favorite brand is Zara, a Spanish brand. I’m in love with everything they sell. My mother owns a clothing store so that would be my second favorite.

What's your favorite style?

My style varies depending on my mood and the day. One thing is consistent, I love to dress to impress. I think the way we look says a lot about who we are so I like to look my best always (at least I try to!) I think my style is a combination of classic with a trendy/dramatic look.


What are the items you always carry in your purse?

The five items always in my purse are hand lotion, lip balm (I can’t stand dry lips), mints, iPhone (because I need to take pictures!) and sunglasses.

Which actor/actress or model has the best style according to your taste?

Mmmm, this is a tough question. I tend to create my own style based on what I like, what’s trending and what accentuates my features. I don’t really have a specific someone to name. Yes, there’s a few actress and models I enjoy how they dress but they don’t really define my style.


Who was your role model growing up and how does that influence who you are today?

My role model growing up was my mom, she still is! I have learned from her sacrifices and experiences. She has taught me to be the woman I am today and I am proud of how she raised my brothers and I. She is also my go-to fashion consultant. I have learned my great taste in style from her.

What is your favorite Latino Dish?

Although, I’m not Peruvian my favorite Latino Dish is ceviche. It’s so yummy; I could eat it for days.


What is your favorite thing to do?

My most favorite thing to do is read, travel, travel, travel and do runway modeling. Did I mention I love to travel?

What do you like about being Latina?

What I enjoy the most about being Latino is how different our culture is. The food is delicious, everyone is so social and friendly. Also the opportunity of being able to speak 3 languages, I speak English, a little bit of Spanish, and Portuguese.

What are your favorite brand of clothes?

One of my few favorite brands are Guess, Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollister and Nordstrom.

What is your favorite color? 

My favorite color is blue.

What's your favorite style?

My favorite style is being able to combine everything together and making it look like 3 different outfits. I’m also into the summer style. I enjoy wearing my hair down often with nice natural makeup.

The 5 items I carry in my purse are lip gloss, highlighter, wallet, mirror, and brush.

I am 25 years old, born in Chicago, Ill. Moved to California about 11 years ago and I love it here! I’ve been working in the dental field for over 6 years, but I enjoy being in front of a camera on my down time.

What do you like about being Latino?
What I like about being Latina, is being able enjoy the culture. The music, the food, the people. Everything and everyone is so different, it’s amazing!
What are your favorite colors?

My favorite colors would have to be grey and black.

What are your favorite brand of clothes?

I really don’t have a favorite brand of clothing. If I see something I really like, regardless of the brand/price I’ll buy it.

What’s your favorite style?

My favorite style would have to be something that I’m comfortable in but can play around with it. More casual than anything.

What are the items you always carry in your purse?

The five items I always carry in my purse are: lipstick/lipgloss, floss, gum, bodyspray, lotion.

I really like JLo’s sense of style. When it comes to getting all glammed up, I can relate. And even on her not so glamorous days, she still makes anything look great!

Who was your role model growing up and how does that influence who you are today?

My role model growing up would always be my mom. She always showed me character, humility, and a sense of determination and responsibility! I am what I am today, because of her.

What is a good life lesson that you would like to share with others?

One good life lesson I’ve learned is to not live your life for others. Sometimes it’s good to be a little selfish and think about yourself. You can’t many anyone else happy if you’re not happy with yourself. You only live once, so make the best of it!
