My First Time In New York Fashion Week

What am I wearing?

Going for the first time to New York Fashion Week is like a dream come true to me, and preparing for this trip has been the most exciting experience. I have never been so excited to pack my suitcase but to get there it took weeks to look for the perfect looks.

I’m going from the 10th to the 13th so I need four perfect looks plus something extra if I go out at night. From head to toe it is all about details. The style I go for is elegant, and simple. I am going to play with leather and of course fur and wool are perfect for this season.

The color palette I picked for this time is basic, black, white and nude, and a splash of peach and pink. I’m also thinking of adding some red to it.

Getting into the show for fashion week was not the easiest job. I had to create a template to email PR, be aware of every designer collection and send as much emails as possible, as well as have to organize my agenda because there are so many presentations and shows one after the other and you don’t want to miss any so you got to sit down and be saavy with Google maps and track where each event is going to be located.

I got invited to a couple of shows, but I’m still dreaming about getting into one of the big designer shows. My favorites for sure are my Latin American inspiration Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera.

Falda lapiz

Lo que me encanta de las faldas lápiz es la forma que se ajustada al cuerpo hasta la rodilla. Hacen un poco dificil a caminar pero son bien efectivos para dar una buena impresión para cualquier ocasión, sea el trabajo o un juntó especialmente si eres curvilínea. Combinalo con una blusa, polera o chamarra y no pasa nada mas que vas estar de moda!

Falda larga

La falda larga lla regreso mas potente que nunca. Un estilo contemporáneo, se vio mucho el uso en la pista por maras Hugo Boss y Fendi. Para lograr la falda large efectivamente ponte unos tacones de tobillo o botines de atadura con sueter. Aunque la chamarra y falda larga estaba de moda la temporada pasada déjalo en la casa y solo ponte un sueter largo o que llega a la cintura.

Falda de una línea

Si tienes el cuerpo formado como una pera. La falda de una línea es la perfecta falda de moda para ti. Es un bonito look sea largo or corto la falda, simplemente porque la falda de una línea está ajustado en la cintura y se hace más ancho hacia abajo. Ponte un cinturón y puedes llamar buena atención sobre la parte más angosta de tu figura.

Faldas de cintura alta

When you go to the “local” or “traditional” restaurant you can find a big variety of fish, planting and coconut rice, although for a more exclusive meal try the Posta Negra, it’s a traditional Cartagenian meat that takes over 5 hours of cooking. The taste of this meat is fantastic, I highly recommend La Mulata Restaurant in old town.

The last night out, we found a place called La Pepita in Bocagrande neighborhood I just fell in love with the architecture and design of the place, the food was yummy and drinks absolutely delicious. We had a rolled hamburger and my favorite drink pineapple and mint juice.

Como muchos padres inmigrantes de bajos ingresos, los padres de Johana fueron empleados en talleres de explotación cuando ella era solo una niña. Llevavan a Johana a su trabajo y ella miraba mientras sembraban y creaban ropa en masa. Johana instantáneamente se enamoró y decidió ejercer el diseño, tal como hicieron su madre y abuela en El Salvador.
