What do you like about being Latina?

Being a Latina undoubtedly has a lot of positive aspects, but what I love the most is our peculiar way of seeing life. Latinas are characterized as strong positive women and leaders, with a great attitude to face adversity, which without a doubt, is the most iconic characteristic of us.

What’s something about you that people would be surprised to know?
I am a person who loves changes. I love trying different things, going to new places, living new experiences and being in constant evolution. Many people believe that I am X type of woman and could not get out of those parameters, on the contrary, I think I am an adaptive woman, I do not settle for little and I am always looking for more.
What are your favorite colors and outfits that make up most of your closet?

My favorite color for fashion is black (To mix and match haha). But for my skin color, I love using nudes, gold, oranges, red ... sober colors and earth tones, as these highlight my color even more. My style varies between casual-sexy and casual-elegant. It is a perfect mix of both, so I love wearing leggings and/or dress pants, as well as boots with medium and clear heels and a wide variety of jackets and bags in my closet.

What trends are big in your city?

I currently live in Mexico City and one of the most used seasonal trends are the off-shoulders and the slip-on pants.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do you like about that brand?

My favorite designer is Carolina Herrera. Firstly because she is Venezuelan talent. Secondly, her designs reflect a high level of glamour and elegance with which I identify myself; at the same time, she uses sexy and striking colors, which makes her designs "sexy and elegant pieces". That's me, girl!

Which actresses or models do you believe have the best style?

The Hadid sisters are my inspiration. I love that "carefree" but sexy style without needing to fall into the vulgar.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years and what are your goals?

In 5 years I am graduated in psychology, being a professional, developing in the area of fashion marketing. Studying a master's degree in Neuromarketing and living in Europe. It's my dream!

What do you like about being Latina?

I love the culture that is embedded in our blood. Being raised by hard working parents that teach you strong work ethics and of course having that Latin spice.

What’s something about you that people would be surprised to know?
I’m a hypochondriac. I’m very OCD, and I carry hand sanitizer everywhere I go
What are your favorite colors and outfits that make up most of your closet?

Of course black is a staple color in my closet, but I have a ton of whites, pink, sequins and print. So pretty much everything you can think of.

What trends are big in your city?

I feel trends are now on a national level thanks to social media, but in Irvine you will see a ton of active wear (which I live for) or summer dresses, sandals and beach waves. #effortless

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do you like about that brand?

It depends; I have a huge collection of shoes from designers such as Guiseppe Zanotti to Christian Louboutin. Bags, where do I begin, Chanel (clear obsession), YSL (love), Bvlgari (to die for) , Louis Vuitton (classic), Dior (style) and Fendi (fun) ….. so designers bags have a clear space in my heart and closet. For clothing on the other hand, I love brands like Zara, online shopping stores like Revolve, Missguided and Forever 21 because they offer trendy yet affordable fashion.

What do you like about being Latina?

What I love more about being Latina is my culture. I love how hard working my people are. Despite any obstacles they might face, especially living in this country with no papers, they don’t give up. They’ll stand on a corner and sell flowers or fruit for 12 hours straight to make sure their family is taken care for.

What’s something about you that people would be surprised to know?
Something about me that people would be surprised to know is that I had a pretty hard upbringing. I was raised in the Foster Care system which was not easy at all. I dealt with homelessness, not knowing where I was going to live while finishing my senior year of high school could have easily stopped me from pursuing a better future for myself. But my drive to be someone in life and to be a role model for young girls going through similar situations was stronger than any problems I was facing at the moment. And looking back at it now, it was all worth it. Even if I only inspire 1 person with my story, I know that she or he will have a chance at a better future.
What are your favorite colors and outfits that make up most of your closet?

My favorite colors and outfits that make up most of my closet would have to be white, blue and black. I love styling amazing chic pieces from brands, as you can see all over my Instagram, but most of the time you will always find me wearing my favorite PAIGE blue or black jeans with a white tee from VINCE or RAG & BONE. Oh and you can’t forget a good pair of booties and a good denim or leather jacket. That is my go to look when I am rushing out the door.

What trends are big in your city?

Trends that are big in my city are probably distressed black jeans with a cute tee and the black GUCCI slides. And now that its starting to get hot, I would say a good pair of 501 LEVIS short shorts with a cute tank and some cute sandals. I am a very simple girl, I love wearing things that look effortlessly put together to be honest.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do you like about that brand?

I love so many brands & designers. Especially up and coming brands. But If I had to choose I would say my favorite brand is PAIGE, I love what the brand represents. How inclusive they are for every type of body, and of course the designer herself, PAIGE is the most amazing and inspiring person. She was one of the first female denim designers in the industry back in 2004. She opened doors for a lot of women in the denim industry.

Which actresses or models do you believe have the best style?

The actress I believe has the best style would have to be Selena Gomez. I love how chic and stylish she is, but also keeps it very simple. She can definitely style everything and anything and still make it look amazing. She is one my fashion icons.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years and what are your goals?

This is a question that I ask myself every morning during my “me time”. I am very big on making goals and having them in front of you at all times so you know what you are fighting for everyday. In 5 years, I see myself owning and designing my own clothing brand. I actually have already started, it should be launching in the fall. It's a huge project I’ve been working on for almost a year and I could not be more excited. I also see myself having a non profit organization or charity that helps foster youths in the Los Angeles area by providing them with clothes and everyday necessities. Something that I went through when I first entered the system and many kids still go through everyday is not having clothes or a bag to put your belongings. They give you a black trash bag to put all your belongings and that’s what you take with you from home to home. The transition can be traumatic for a kid or teenager so if I can offer them a little help, why not. I have so many more goals such as buying my first home and traveling a lot but I think the two I mentioned before are the ones that mean the most to me and are the ones that push me everyday to get up and keep going. Hope these answers are good!

What do you like about being Latina?
I have always felt defined by my drive and determination in life. That’s who I am and that’s what I am most proud of. I wouldn’t say an ethnicity defines that in a person, I think that comes through your personal experiences and how you choose to react to them. However, I do believe that my upbringing (being raised by a Latina, single mother) has been the root of all of my accomplishments and I am thankful for the morals and values that she has instilled in me.
What’s something about you that people would be surprised to know?
I am an adrenaline junkie and I love to travel. I have been skydiving in Portugal, bungee jumping and free falling in Dallas, sky jumping in Vegas, hand gliding in Brazil, amongst a few other things. I love the rush and that's also probably why I love competing and being on stage.
What is your favorite outfit in your closet?

I have never been a girly girl, in fact I grew up with boy cousins so I’m more of a tomboy turned beauty queen. I love dressing up in dresses and heels but I always feel the most comfortable when I’m wearing workout clothes. I'll have to say my joggers are my favorite.

Who is your role model and why?

I don't have a specific role model since we are all humans and no one is perfect. I believe that sometimes looking up to someone puts limitations on your own capabilities. Instead, I believe in being motivated by others to become the best version of yourself. For me that's a variety of athletes, celebrities and people in my personal life. For example, someone who I do have a lot of respect for is Tim Tebow. He stays true to his faith and does so much in his community for kids with special needs, which is also my platform.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years and what are your goals?

One of my goals is to leave a legacy behind. There are many things I want to accomplish throughout my lifetime but if I fast forward 5 years from now I hope to be a successful, fulfilled and happy person who is still involved in her community, working towards her goals and inspiring others to do the same.

One of my favorite brands at the moment is the Italian brand Gucci, which is one of the most luxurious currently. They are pieces that seduce and known for their sophistication and elegance. Despite having been created in 1921 it has not lost its validity!!

What do you like about being Latina?

What I love the most about being Latina is the colorful personality and the warmth. I love embracing who I am and where I come from.

What’s something about you that people would be surprised to know?

Well, that’s a question to ask my hubby, he always says that I surprise him with bills LOL. To be honest, some of the people here in the US might not know that I was a professional singer back in Venezuela. I miss that side of me so much. Even though I was able to fulfill one of my bucket list wishes of recording my first single on iTunes. HOY APUESTO A QUIEN SOY.

What are your favorite colors and outfits that make up most of your closet?

For my skin tone I love wearing corals, turquoise and red. I also have a lot of neutrals to pair them with nicely. In the summer I love to wear summer dresses. In the fall there is always room for over the knee boots (I think every woman should own a pair).

What trends are big in your city?

Minnesota is very conservative, and the fashion trends arrive a little bit late here. I guide myself mostly from magazines and from what I bring into my store and most of the time I am ahead of fashion in this city.

Which actresses or models do you believe have the best style?

From the old times, there is no doubt that Audrey Hepburn was an icon of elegance and style. Love the simplicity of Natalie Portman, and Halle Berry is sexy and stylish at the same time. There are a lot of people I admire with certain outfits but they don’t have a great style all the time.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do you like about that brand?

For jeans without a doubt JBRAND, they fit me like a glove, I can always shop them without trying them on. For shoes: Sam Edelman is one of my favorites I love how they fit and the design is always great for any season. My favorite over the knee boots are from Stewart Weitzman they are sleek and elegant. I have discovered that UGGS wedges are super comfortable and I love the colors and designs . BCBG is one of my favorites for clothing in general but lately with the adjustment with a new company I am having a hard time finding the same quality and design as before.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years and what are your goals?

Having my own store besides the online store. Keep supporting creative women from Latin America and promote their work here in the US and soon around the world. Keep empowering women to look and feel good about themselves. There is a lot I have been working on but I can’t say much yet. This is just the beginning of a beautiful journey. What do you like about being Latina?

Every single time I tell people I’m Puerto Rican. I love it! I think it’s hilarious to see their surprised faces, and its always an opportunity to open the conversation about diversity, especially in the fashion and entertainment industry. People have a stereotype of how Latinos and Puerto Ricans look like, and I enjoy witnessing my contribution to change that. I also love pronouncing my full name in Spanish. It confuses people haha.

What’s something about you that people would be surprised to know?
Some people think I am an “only child”, but no. I have an older sister and a younger brother, and they are the most precious thing in my life. Most of my personality and creativity comes from growing up with them. We are SUPER loud and crazy when we are together, and they’re always there when I need them. And, we know all of Jim Carry’s lines on Ace Ventura Pet Detective. lol!
What are your favorite colors and outfits that make up most of your closet?

What, where, how, when, and with who. Those are the questions I ask myself before I get dressed. It all depends on the circumstances, and I have a closet that’s perfect for that. Basic items (pencil skirts, tank tops, blouses, jeans, little-black-dresses) let me mix and match to always create a new outfit. Color palate stays around the cool, darker tones; black is inevitable. Overall, my look is simple, effortless and elegant.

What trends are big in your city?

I’ll say, the trend in New York City is to follow your own style. There’s such beautiful diversity of cultures and lifestyles, everyone expresses themselves in a unique style. Some people like to be comfy and warm, some people embody their lifestyle and beliefs; the majority wears black, and then there’s people who wear bright colors and patterns. It all comes down to knowing yourself and wearing what makes you feel good.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do you like about that brand?

I am currently infatuated with Rebecca Minkoff shoes. They are so elegant, yet comfortable. I’m also in love with New Vie Shop jewelry; they add a touch of elegance and simplicity to any look. Both perfect for someone who walks around the city every day and wants to look like you thought about your outfit, head to toe.

Which actresses or models do you believe have the best style?

Ashley Graham! She exudes such confidence and happiness. I think it’s sexy! Seeing her change the industry by doing what she loves while empowering women. THAT is a style I want to copy. Emma Watson and Marie Forleo are also women that I admire, not just for what they wear but for what they do and represent.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years and what are your goals?

My ultimate goal in life is to empower women and young girls to live a confident life without fear. I want to inspire them to take control and action towards their dreams, using tools I had to learn myself, like, mindfulness, creative expression and meditation. Longer term, I see myself having my own established production/consulting/education brand, probably within the fashion and entertainment industry, and then traveling the world as a speaker sharing all of it. In the meantime, in the coming few years, I see myself working with top commercial and high-end brands in print and tv, and making appearances in mainstream media like tv shows, digital series, and movies.
